Modification

A Court may modify Orders related to conservatorship, support, or possession of and access to a child.  Modification of child-related provisions in prior Court Orders is conditioned on the requested change being in “the best interest of the child” (a very vague standard).

A Court may not amend, modify, alter, or change the division of property in a final Decree of Divorce.  However, in some instances a Court may modify and reduce Court-ordered spousal maintenance (the Court may not modify contractual alimony unless the contract specifically permits future modifications by the Court).
